Essequibo Coast man crushed by fallen tree

A 27-year-old resident of the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) has been crushed by a falling tree.
Dead is Silas Allan Federicks, a logger of Wakapao village, Lower Pomeroon River.

Reports are that the incident occurred at about 13:00h on Monday at Kaburi Backdam in Mazaruni, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) on Monday.
According to information obtained, Federicks was cutting a tree but apparently did not realise that it was entangled in a large vine, which unexpectedly burst and caused the tree to fall. The falling tree pinned him to the ground, killing him instantly. His colleagues rushed to his aid, but by then he had already died.
He was rushed to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead. His body has been taken to the Suddie Mortuary to await a post mortem examination.
