Essequibo Coast man remanded for illegal gun, ammo

Twenty-six-year-old Kwesi Griffith, a miner of Westbury Village, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) was remanded to prison on Tuesday on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

This offense is contrary to Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05, and ‘unlawful possession of ammunition without license’, contrary to Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.
Griffith appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed. He pleaded not guilty to both offenses and was remanded to prison.
The case will continue on May 15.
