Essequibo Coast miner dies after motorcycle crashes into drain 

A 20-year-old miner died on Wednesday evening after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a drain along the Onderneeming Sandpit Access Road, Essequibo Coast.

Dead is Tyron Boston, of Lot 286, Onderneeming Sandpit, Essequibo Coast.
Police said the fatal incident occurred at about 18:30h on Wednesday, as Boston was riding an unregistered Bashan 150cc motorcycle east along the northern side of the roadway.
According to investigators, another motorcycle, registration CS 6084, driven by another resident of Onderneeming Sandpit, was travelling in the same direction behind Boston.
He told Police that he saw Boston lose control of his motorcycle while negotiating the right bend. The motorcycle then entered the drain before Boston fell onto the road and slid towards the northern parapet, sustaining injuries.
Members of the public, including the other motorcyclist, picked up Boston in an unconscious state and transported him to the Suddie Public Hospital. He was, however, pronounced dead on arrival.
Police investigators visited the scene at about 18:40h on Wednesday. Both motorcycles were subsequently taken to Suddie Police Station, where they were lodged for examination.
Police said Boston was not wearing a safety helmet at the time of the incident.
A post-mortem examination conducted on Thursday found that Boston died from shock, haemorrhage and a fractured skull. The other motorcyclist remains in custody at the Suddie Police Station, assisting with the investigation. A breathalyser test conducted on him reportedly recorded four micrograms of alcohol.
