A 35-year-old miner of Richmond village took his own life after he stabbed his 32-year-old girlfriend of Devonshire Castle, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).

Dead is Andy Williams. The incident occurred at about 09:00h on Saturday morning at Anna Regina Market. According to reports reaching Guyana Times, Williams and his girlfriend, who has her own business, had a misunderstanding which resulted in a heated argument. During the spat between the lovers, Williams reportedly whipped out a knife and stabbed his girlfriend to her wrist and abdomen.
He then turned the knife on himself.
This newspaper was told that the incident stemmed after she attempted to end the relationship with him.
Persons in the area said that Williams then threatened the woman, telling her if she leaves him then no one else can have her.
Following the stabbing, the couple was rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital where Williams succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention. The woman was treated for her injuries. (G14)
