Young people from four Essequibo communities over the weekend participated in the third iteration of the “Wellness Within” project, a youth-focused initiative aimed at promoting holistic health, personal growth and leadership. The two-day programme, held over the weekend, brought together youths between the ages of 13 and 17 from Tapakuma, Mashabo, Lima Sands and Mainstay, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam). According to the United States (US0 Embassy in Guyana, the initiative was funded through its Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) and provided participants with an opportunity to discuss mental health, social wellbeing and sexual and reproductive health.

The programme also incorporated creative activities, allowing participants to express themselves through painting, dance and guitar. The US Embassy said the project was organised by Youth Ambassador alumni, with support from facilitators and participants. The Embassy, in a social media post, thanked the Youth Ambassador alumni for their leadership in organising the project, as well as the facilitators and young people who participated.
