Essequibo Pandit’s house gutted in early morning fire 

A fire of unknown origin has completely gutted a two-storey house at Lot 31 Spring Garden, Essequibo Coast.
The house was owned by a popular Essequibo Coast Pandit, Manesh Danraj, called “Sir” of Spring Garden village.
According to information reaching Guyana Times, Danraj was in Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) when he received the tragic news that his home was on fire.  The fire started at 03:15h Tuesday morning. Information revealed that the concrete and wooden building, which had been completely furnished, was completely gutted.

According to head of the Anna Regina Fire Station, Clive Mc Donald, the Station received a call around 04:06h and fire-fighters were dispatched to the location.
He said the firemen were prompt and managed to save a nearby building that was in the same yard. Mc Donald said investigations were currently ongoing in an effort to discover the cost of the fire.
Meanwhile, residents said that calls were made to the Fire Station around 03:20h. Neighbours related that they smelt smoke and immediately rushed outside. According to one neighbour, the family has a business at Bartica and would usually come home on weekends. A security guard was at the premises at the time of the fire and contacted the Anna Regina Fire Station.
