Eureka Giddings emerges winner of C&V Shipping Golf Tournament
… earns free entry into GTT Guyana Open
The stakes were high last Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) as golfers came out in droves for the final tune-up tournament sponsored by C&V Shipping. Eureka Giddings kept a cool head and edged out a strong challenge from Hardeo Ganpat and Roy Dhory and 44 others, to earn best net and the overall win.
Both Giddings and Ganpat had net scores of 66; however, Giddings won on a countback. Saturday’s win also meant Giddings earned the highest number of points and will be rewarded with free entry into this weekend’s two-day GTT Guyana Open golf tournament – which will crown Guyana’s best male and female golfers for 2022.
Hardeo Ganpat copped second
At the end of Saturday’s play, it was becoming clear who the favourites were, heading into this weekend’s Open. On the men’s side, Avinash Persaud once again stamped his authority to win best gross for the second time in three weeks and is in good form going into this weekend’s major event. The winning female golfer will have to go through Shanella London, who has played her best golf this year and has emerged favourite to win ahead of what is expected to be strong challenges from a very determined Dr Joann Deo and young veteran Christine Sukhram, who is returning home to reclaim her old title as Guyana’s best ladies golfer. A title which went unchallenged for several years.
The winners on Saturday received trophies and cash vouchers:
