Everest Masters draw first blood over Bacchus XI

City side, Everest Cricket Club Masters team journeyed to Administrative Region number two last Friday where they challenged an Imam Bacchus select team in a feature cricket match at the Affiance and easily winning the contest by seven wickets.
The visitors won the toss and invited Imam Bacchus XI to take first strike in the 25 overs per side game.
Due to tight bowling, the host only managed 124 for 7 from their allotment of overs with Rakesh Gangaram leading Everest Masters’ charge with 3 for 33 from 5 overs.

Captain Rajesh Singh supported with 2 for 15 from 5 overs of tidy off-spin while Saheed Mohamed and Ronald Jaisingh had a wicket each for 9 and 16 respectively.
For Imam Bacchus XI Fazir Khan scored 33 (3×4), Roy Gonsalves 23 (2×6; 1×4), Latchmikant Narine 16
and Besham Seepersaud 10.
Everest Masters scored 126 for 3 in 20.1 overs winning by seven wickets. Hemraj Garbarran blasted 46 (5×4) and got admirable support from Essequibo’s pride and joy Ramesh Narine with 26 not out (2×4), Saheed Mohamed 22 not out (2×4) and Sahadeo Hardaiow 16 (2×4).
Besham Seepersaud, Latchmikant Narine and Fazir Khan picked up a wicket each but failed to prevent the visitors from romping home with 29 balls to spare in splendid conditions for cricket.
A return fixture is fixed for Easter weekend at the Everest Cricket Club, Georgetown.
