Everest surrender to Police

– Johnson takes 4

National pacer, Raun Johnson was on target on Saturday when he bagged a four-wicket haul to give Police Sports Club a comfortable 61-run victory against Everest Cricket Club at Eve Leary.
As cricket resumes in the city, Johnson who played two First Class matches for Guyana in 2014 took 4 for 44 as the visitors were bowled out for 93 in 22 overs in the New Building Society sponsored Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) organized 40-overs competition.

For Everest, Denesh Mangal top scored with 35 (4×4; 6×2) and was supported by Dwayne Adams with 24 (4×1; 6×2) in their quest for 155 from 40 overs. Johnson was supported by Jason Heyliger with 3 for 23 and Vishal Jaigobin 3 for 3.
Earlier, Police SC won the toss and were bowled out in just 29.2 of their allotted 40 overs with seasoned left-arm spinner Javed Rasheed bamboozling the batsmen with 4 for 20 from 7.2 steady overs while Richie Looknauth supported with 3 for 39.
However, Police’s target was built around a robust 82 from Alex Algoo who blasted eight sixes and carved out four fours in his well complied match-winning innings. With no other batsman reaching double figures, the game was wide open when the home side folded for 154 without batting out their 40 overs but Johnson and company proved too much for the Everest lads.
