Home Sports Everest whips Trojans by 10 wickets – Adams hits unbeaten 53
The action continued in the New Building Society (NBS) 2nd Division 40-Over Cricket Competition, as Everest faced off against the UG Trojans at Camp Road which saw Everest annihilating the Trojan side by 10 wickets.
Last week, Everest defeated the inform DCC and we’re aiming to carry their form into their Trojan fixture. Batting first, the UG Trojans were skittled out for 96 all out in 24 of their allotted 40 overs. For the Trojans it was a another bad day at the office as they struggled to find partnerships; the top batsmen – Linden Austin, Omesh Danram and Ershaad Ali – were no match for the Everest side, with the likes of Richie Looknauth, Raylex Payne and Javed Rasheed. The top scorers for the Trojan side were Suresh Dhanai with 23 and Ershaad Ali and Linden Austin with 12 runs a piece, as no one else on the team could muster double figures.
In the end, Trojans could only muster 96 all-out as Richie Looknauth 8-37-2, Raylex Payne 5-25-3, Javed Rasheed 6-12-3 and Dwayne Adams 2-4-1 spearheaded the Everest bowling attack.
Needing a total of 97 for victory, Everest went about chasing their total in an aggressive manner. The first over of the match went for 8 runs as openers Ronaldo Renee and Captain Dwayne Adams took a liking to the Trojans bowling. From there on, it was complete carnage as Adams and Ronaldo chased the total down in 13.5, blasting maximums and boundaries to every part of the ground ending on 97 for the loss of no wicket. Top scoring for Everest were Dwayne Adams 53* (4×7 2×6) and Ronaldo Renee 35* (5×4). No Trojans bowlers contributed any substantial figures. (Timothy Jaikarran)
