Exhibition opened for 73rd anniversary of victory over fascism

On the occasion of the 73rd anniversary since the victory over fascism in World War II, a photographic exhibition was launched on Wednesday by the Russian Embassy to commemorate this milestone.

The exhibition, which is being hosted at the National Museum, was opened to the public by the Russian Ambassador to Guyana, Alexander Kurmaz and other members of the diplomatic corp.
During his brief remarks, the Russian ambassador stated, “As every year, our people render homage to the efforts of all those who provided support to be part of the peoples of the Soviet Union. You may know from history that 27 million of the Soviet citizens paid with their blood, lives and health for the victory.”
Kurmaz also explained that the victory over fascism should be celebrated by all since it was the basis on which the world has revolutionised and also the reason why so many lives were saved after the war.
“These years after the dissolution of the Soviet Union were all stressed that my country is not privatising the victory. It is the victory of the human kind.”
All are invited to participate in the viewing of the pictures, which depict every stage of the struggles which were faced for fascism to be abolished, from the preparations for World War II to the celebration which arose from the victory in Moscow, Russia.
During the war, the soviets were the first to reach the German capital of Berlin, which caused Germany to surrender in May of 1945, shortly after the suicide of Adolf Hitler. As a result of this, they attained victory over fascism which ceased the suffering of all.
The exhibition is expected to last for three days and will conclude on Saturday.
