“Expect a great tournament”

…says Fernandes on Diamond Mineral Water Hockey Festival

Fresh off of hosting the Indoor Pan American Championships (IPAC) just last month, the Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) is ready to take on the challenge of hosting the annual Diamond Mineral Water Indoor Hockey Festival.
Guyana Times Sport spoke with GHB President Philip Fernandes and he revealed

Most of Guyana’s National Hockey players will be in action come November 23

that despite the GHB’s busy schedule of late they are ready to host the tournament.
“This year has been a bit more of a challenge than past years because of so much that have been going on leading up to the tournament but our reputation of course still remains so teams are anxious to come. We have participation from a few teams in Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados. We expect it to be a great tournament as per normal” Fernandes revealed.
The GHB has hosted the IPAC with seven countries participating and received much deserved praise from Pan American officials .
Fernandes pointed to that successf and opined that Guyana is now much more experienced and well placed to host other international tournaments especially with the GHB’s newly imported “plastic tile” playing surface that is laid at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
“We now have a better facility that is tried and tested with the recent championships (IPAC), that bodes well for the upcoming Diamond Festival and fans can expect a good showing” Fernandes explained.
The Diamond Mineral Water Festival will begin on November 23 and will conclude on November 26; all games will be played at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
