Home News ExxonMobil is platinum sponsor of Energy Conference & Expo 2022
The International Energy Conference and Expo Guyana 2022 on Friday announced that oil giant ExxonMobil is a platinum sponsor of the inaugural event, billed for February 2022.
The event is being held in collaboration with the Government of Guyana.
The event in Guyana is unique in the region, in that it brings together in the same forum the highest level of national and regional policymakers with industry leaders and specialists. This model not only allows national leaders to leverage investment and business opportunities, but also ensures that those initiatives are contextualised in a clearly developed policy and regulatory framework.
In this regard, Guyana’s President, Dr Irfaan Ali, will deliver the keynote address at the opening of the conference. Also confirmed for the event are Surinamese President Chandrikapersad Santokhi and Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley.
“We are excited to welcome ExxonMobil Guyana onboard. ExxonMobil is not only a world-leading energy producer, but is the leading developer of Guyana’s oil and gas resources, so it was important therefore that their leadership also extended to this conference and expo,” Chief Executive Officer of the International Energy Conference and Expo, Angenie Abel, has noted.
“In addition to the discussions around energy development, we also hope to stimulate discussions around issues of local content and capacity-building, and the development of a safety culture. ExxonMobil has been a leader in these areas, and is a necessary voice at the table,” Abel noted.
Meanwhile, President of ExxonMobil Guyana, Alistair Routledge, has said, “Events of this nature create a space for meaningful discussions about the impact this new industry can have on Guyana’s development and the region”.
The conference and expo are slated for February 15 to 18, 2022 at the Guyana Marriott Hotel in Georgetown. They would be held under the theme ‘Charting a Sustainable Energy Future’.
The registration portal for the conference and expo can be found on the conference website: www.guyanaenergy.gy. Pre-registration is now open for sponsors, exhibitors, in-person attendees, virtual attendees, workshop participants, and members of the media; all is being done online.
