Frankie Farley has been re-elected to serve another term at the helm of the Guyana Chess Federation (GCF), following the Federation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Farley, the incumbent President, was first elected to the post back in August 2019 and will serve another two-year term.
During the GCF’s virtual AGM last week, a number of items were on the agenda, including the President’s report, the financial report, and the election of the Executive.
Farley’s slate ran unopposed and as such, their election was unanimous.
Aside from Farley being elected as President, Anand Ragunauth is the new Vice President, while Marcia Lee is the Company Secretary. There are four Directors, inclusive of accomplished women’s player and Attorney-at-Law Yolander Persaud, veteran player Loris Nathoo, Davion Mars and Irshad Mohammed.
It is reported that the Directors will oversee various aspects of the GCF’s mandate, inclusive of finances, tournaments, and youth development.
Over the past year under Farley’s stewardship, the GCF has been proactive in hosting tournaments, especially for the younger crop of players, by utilising online mediums.
