Farmer hospitalised after chopping incident at Stanleytown

A farmer of Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara (WBD) is nursing several chop wounds about his body at the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) following an incident on Wednesday.
The injured man has been identified as 39-year-old Qunicy Hill of Stanleytown, WBD.
Based on information received, Hill was riding his bicycle with a cutlass fastened between the lower bars, and as he proceeded along the roadway, an unidentified male approached him from behind and snatched the cutlass from the bicycle. Hill reportedly stopped and requested that the man return the cutlass, but the man instead dealt him several chops about his body. After committing the act, the man fled the scene while Hill was left there lying.
Hill’s uncle, a minibus driver, was contacted and told of the incident. Without hesitation, he went to the scene, picked up his nephew and took him to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH), where he was admitted.
Hill sustained injuries to his hands and feet. His condition is regarded as stable. Police have since launched a manhunt for the perpetrator.
