Some of the country’s top racing cyclists will battle for supremacy on the roadways of the West Side on Tuesday July 20 when they participate in a 45-mile contest that commences at Schoonord, West Bank Demerara and races to Bushy Park, Parika, East Bank Essequibo, before returning for the finish at the western end of the Demerara Harbour Bridge. The action starts at 8:00hrs.
This event is organised by Team Alanis Cycle Club (TACC). Farmsup Supplies Ltd has pledged to put up a total of $485,000 in prizes for the top six in the open category, as well as the top three cyclists in the female, junior, masters- under 50 and masters over-50 categories. The masters, females and juniors would cover a distance of 30 miles, while those contesting in the open category would cover the full 45-mile distance.
The race has 10 sprint prizes each worth $5,000.
