Fate of Berbice cricket to be decided today

Who will be the new head of Berbice Cricket? The answer will be known today as the Board hosts it elections at the Classic Hotel and Suite in Corriverton from 10:30h.
Based on reports coming from the ancient county, former vice-president Dhieranidranauth Somwaru is the only confirmed candidate. Speculation still surrounds whether Hilbert Foster, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) will place his hat in the race.
However, it is understood that prospective candidates can still confirm their interest this morning.

More so, the returning officer will be elected today at a by-election by member clubs. Member clubs will need to show documents to verify their legitimacy as they seek to enter the venue.
In all, 11 Clubs and three Associations should be voting. The following clubs after consultation with their membership has elected the following delegates to represent them at the meeting;

For Canjie Hospital Club: Jevaughn Stephens and Desmond Conway; Rose Hall Community Centre Cricket Club: Cecil Beharry and Ameer Rahaman; Guymine Sports Club: Albert Smith and Malcolm Peters; Chesney Cricket Club: Imran Khan and Narine Deonarine; Kildonan Cricket Club: Qualis Winter and Colin Bynoe JR; Blairmont Cricket Club: Shabeer Baksh and Vijay Farhad; Berbice Police Sports Club: Kewis Gravesande and Philbert Wilburgh; Mount Sinai Cricket Club: Jaipersaud Hardeo & Neil Rudder; Upper Corentyne Cricket Association: Dennis De Andread, Sydney Jackman, Chatterpaul Lionel & Lakram Lachman; Whim: Arnold Deosarran & Tameshwar Harinarine.; Berbice River Cricket Association: Jason Den Hart, Irving Lyte, Sheldon Bovell, Winston Lyte.
Each sub-association is entitled to four voting delegates while the clubs have two voting delegates each.
The October 8 elections will be the first since 2014.
