Father cries for justice for son shot dead by ex-con
Six months after 22-year-old Keyion McLennon was shot dead in a bus shed in Queenstown, Essequibo Coast, his father reiterated his calls for justice after the suspect remains on the run.
McLennon and another person, identified as “Fronto” were allegedly shot by an ex-convict known as “Bad Boy”. McLennon was reportedly shot three times – twice to the arms and once to the abdomen – back in July 2021.
Police had stated that the shooting stemmed from an apparent drug deal that went wrong.
However, the dead man’s father, Donald McLennon, had stated that his son and the suspect had an altercation sometime before he was shot dead. At that time, he stated that the shooting was an act of revenge.
On July 17 last, the young miner had left his parents’ home at Queenstown, Essequibo Coast, and shortly after, they received the news that he was shot and killed.
“I feel so confused…there is so much stress on my head and nothing can take away the shock that I had lost my eldest son. He life gone so easy and nobody ain’t telling me nothing. Nobody ain’t care and now me and my wife have to live in grief…it isn’t fair,” the man told Guyana Times on Tuesday.
He added that since his son died, the Police are yet to provide critical information to the family. The aggrieved father’s only hope is for the family to get justice for his son’s death.
“We want this ‘Bad Boy’ who killed my son to be locked away in prison for life,” the frustrated father stated.
“All we want is peace of mind…it’s hard…every day is hard…six months and we ain’t hear nothing, how long do we have to wait? Every time I remember him, I cry, it hurt me man, it really hurt me a lot,” McLennon cried.
He further stated that spending the first Christmas without his son was not easy.
“We accustomed to sit as a family and celebrate Christmas… the year before, he buy curtains and decoration for this house… last year, we had a dark holiday…it was hard.”
When contacted, Regional Commander Denise Griffith stated that detectives are making every effort to make a breakthrough in the case while confirming that the suspect remains at large.
