A father of three was on Thursday afternoon shot dead at his worksite at D’Urban Street, Georgetown by two gunmen on a motorcycle.
The dead man has been identified as 47-year-old Prem Sukh, a contractor of Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.
Based on reports received, the man was at the worksite when the armed duo pulled up and discharged several bullets in his direction. The
man was reportedly shot at least five times about the body. Soon after the shooting, the injured man collapsed on the ground. He was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
One man told the media that he was operating his generator and did not hear the gunshots, but saw persons running to the scene. He noted that as he went to enquire, he saw a man lying on the ground, covered with blood.
In addition, at the time of the shooting incident, children were in the yard playing, and are now traumatised. An investigation has been launched into the fatal shooting.
The contractor, according to information, leaves to morning his wife and three children. (G-9)
