Father of 4 drowns during fishing trip

A father of four of Airy Hall Village, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) was discovered Wednesday afternoon floating in a trench.

Reports are 53-year-old Latchman Persaud, called Lall, left home about 13:00h to go fishing. This publication was told that family members became worried after Persaud did not return home some four hours later. As such, relatives and close friends began searching for him. His family’s worst fears were confirmed when the man’s body was spotted floating about 17:00h in a trench in the backdam.

An alarm was raised and the Police was informed. They visited the scene and the body were examined. No marks of violence were noticed. The body was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital. An autopsy will be conducted shortly. Only recently, Persaud’s nephew drowned during a picnic at the Aurora Village seawall. (Indrawattie Natram)
