Father of 5 found dead in canal

Otis Ferry, a father of five, was found dead on Thursday, in a canal at Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara.
When reporters arrived at the scene where Ferry’s body had been pulled from the water, one of his daughters, Dacia Holmes, broke down in tears while recalling how she learned of her father’s death.

Holmes said she received a message that her father had fallen into a drain.
“I got a message when I woke up that he fell down inside a drain. I don’t know what else happened or what else could have happened. He was a very nice man. He helped a lot of people. That’s all I can say; he was a very nice man,” she sorrowfully stated.
She said that just two days before his death, Ferry had called and checked on her.
“Day before yesterday [Wednesday], he called me, and he was asking if I was alright,” Holmes said.
Police investigations continue.
