A Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden resident was on Tuesday before the Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan charged with the attempted murder of his cousin.
Collis Isaacs, 45, a father of five, was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge brought against him.
It is alleged that he wounded Troy Semple on July 25, 2018 at Kumung Kumung Backdam, Puruni, Essequibo River with the intent of committing murder.
According to the prosecution’s case, the men were arguing, and the Virtual Complainant (VC) left and returned with a cutlass.
A fight ensued, but the defendant was able to overpower the VC and used the said cutlass to chop him to his body.
Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield revealed that the VC was still hospitalised, but out of danger and as such, he had no objections to bail being granted.
Bail was granted in the sum of $75,000. Isaacs will reappear in court on August 16, 2018.
