Father of 7 dies in EBD accident

A 50-year-old man died in the wee hours of Monday morning on the Land of Canaan Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD), after his car was involved in a collision with an oncoming vehicle.
Dead is Ferose Khan of Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, who was the driver of one of the motorcars involved in the accident.
According to reports, the accident occurred at around 04:25h when Khan was returning from the Diamond Diagnostic Hospital, EBD.
This newspaper was told that motorcar HC 8204, which was being driven by a 33-year-old Forshaw Street, Queenstown, Georgetown resident, was proceeding North along the western carriageway of the road when it collided with Khan who was driving motorcar PGG 8696 and proceeding in the opposite direction.
This newspaper was told that Khan allegedly made a sudden U-turn into the path of the other vehicle, which caused the collision.
A relative of the dead man disclosed that family members received a call informing them that there was an accident involving Khan on the Land of Canaan Public Road and they rushed to the scene.
Upon their arrival, Khan was still pinned in his vehicle.
The relative disclosed that the only injury he noticed on the now dead man’s body when he was pulled from the wreckage was that his nose was “burst open” and he was bleeding profusely.
He was subsequently rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival at the facility.
The driver of the other vehicle escaped without injury and a breathalyser test administered showed no trace of alcohol in his system.
He is however in Police custody assisting with investigations.
