JJTRC Triple Crown
Labelled the ‘underdog’ in the 3-year-old event, Feeona could leave many shocked on Sunday at the Port Mourant Turf Club (PMTC), Corentyne Coast, during the second leg of the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee (JJTRC) inaugural Triple Crown.
Feeona is a maiden who is looking for her first win, which may come over the 1500-metre distance, which favours her.
This is so especially since she is a slower horse who usually runs behind the field and finishes fast in the last 400m.
However, she previously ran 1000m races only, so this Sunday will also be a test of her readiness across the distance.
She will be running out of the Jumbo Jet Racing Stables. In all, there are seven events carded for the day with over $20 million at stake.
The inaugural Triple Crown was originally set to run off in February at the Rising Sun Turf Club in West Berbice, but the inclement weather forced an adjustment to the fixtures only for the rescheduled first leg to be washed out again early in March. However, this weekend seems promising so far.
There are more than 75 horses registered to see who will rule their category on three consecutive occasions.
Additionally, free kites will be distributed to the first 1000 fans – the organisers’ way of saying thanks and Happy Easter.
The third and final leg is set for April 29 at the Rising Sun Turf Club.
