Female motorcyclist crushed to death by overtaking truck
A female motorcyclist lost her life on Friday after being involved in an accident with a motor lorry which subsequently ran over her head.
The accident occurred along the Mon Repos Railway Embankment Road, East Coast Demerara, and the dead woman has been identified as 52-year-old Limwattie Laljie, also called ‘Savitha’, of Phase 2, Good Hope Housing Scheme, ECD.
According to reports received, Laljie was drivingmotorcycle #CK 6224 along the Mon Repos Railway Embankment Road while the lorry was proceeding in the same direction behind her. As the lorry was in the process of overtaking the motorcyclist, its left side tray came into contact with the motorcycle,
and Laljie was thrown onto the roadway and was run over by the lorry’s left side rear wheels.
The driver, a 26-year-old resident of Diamond, East Bank Demerara, has been arrested and is assisting with investigations which are ongoing.
