Fight over $120: ECD man remanded for fatally stabbing minibus tout

Days after he surrendered to the Police, 28-year-old minibus tout Paul Junior Lynch was arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on a murder charge for fatally stabbing a minibus conductor over $120.

The Lot 1276 Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara (ECD) resident was taken before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, who read the charge to him for the capital offence of murder.
Lynch was not required to plead the indictable charge, which stated that on December 15, at the Route 44 Minibus Park, Commerce Street, Georgetown, he murdered Morvin Nurse, 30, of Haslington, ECD.
He was remanded to prison and the case will call again on February 21, 2022.
A Police report said that Nurse, otherwise known as “2pack” was stabbed to death last week Wednesday during a row with Lynch over $120.
The incident occurred at around 11:00h at the Route 44 Bus Park located at Commerce Street in Georgetown.

The Police had said that Nurse and Lynch were at the bus park when an argument erupted between them during which they began pelting each other with empty beer bottles and bricks.
As the confrontation escalated, Lynch whipped out a knife and stabbed Nurse to his chest. Nurse ran a short distance before falling to the ground, while his attacker escaped in a minibus.
The injured man attempted to walk but fell again. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he died while undergoing surgery.
Following the incident, the Police issued a wanted bulletin for Lynch. Some hours after the wanted notice, he surrendered at the Brickdam Police Station in the company of two lawyers. (G1)
