Final round matches set for today

DCB Under-15 Inter Association 2020…

In concluding the second-round playoff of the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) Under-15 Inter- Association 2020 competition, two matches were played on Wednesday last: Georgetown played East Coast at the Lusignan Community Centre Ground, and West Demerara played East Bank at the Everest Cricket Club ground.

In the match played at Lusignan, Georgetown won the toss and elected to take first strike, scoring 112 all out from 47.3 overs. Middle order batsman Riyad Latif top scored with 15, while lower order batsman Joshua Walcott chipped in with 10. No other batsman could score more than nine runs.
East Coast bowlers Bramanand Robindranauth and Hemraj Harripersaud were the destroyers of the Georgetown innings, respectively harvesting 3 wickets for 9 runs and 3 wickets for 16 runs, while Sahil Gangaram took a wicket for 19 runs.
East Coast put up a grim fight in their reply, falling at 112 in 49.1 overs, just 5 runs short of the Georgetown total. Nicholas Shiopersaud top scored with 26 before he was run out, and opener Tularam Chintamani contributed 24 while Joshua Alves scored 21.
Riyad Latif returned figures of 4 for 11 as he spun Georgetown to victory, and this was complemented by Stephon Sankar’s 2 for 13.
Over at the Everest Cricket Club ground, West Demerara, having won the toss and electing to bat, scored a well composed 175 all out from 44.2 overs of their allotted 50 overs.
Number three batsman Nityanadan Matura top scored with a well-constructed 54, while middle order batsman Wazim Khan chipped in with 23, and Nahamine Singh contributed 12.
Bowling for East Bank Demerara, Dhanesh Persaud and Modesh Kalladeen respectively bagged 3 for 24 and 3 for 26, being supported by Yusuf Hack, who took 1 for 19.
Replying, East Bank could manage only 140 all out from 48.3 overs. All-rounder Deonarine Dindyal, who had earlier opened the bowling for West Demerara, top scored with 36, while Dhanesh Persaud and Sajid Yaseen contributed 20 and 21 respectively.
Bowling for West Demerara, Jeremiah Singh and Sachin Balgobin each took two wickets, for 13 and 15 runs respectively; while Nehimie Singh, Rezeikie Reene and Yadesh Sumrita each collected one wicket.
West Demerara won by 35 runs.
The third and final round matches will be played today, Friday February 7, 2020. East Coast will battle West Demerara at Lusignan, while Georgetown will face off against East Bank at Everest. All matches will start at 9:00 hrs.
