Students writing English Literature at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) or those who are studying theatre arts or simply would like to experience a Shakespearean production can witness the theatrical production, “Julius Caesar” at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Wednesday, May 3.
The production is hosted by GEMS Theatre Productions in collaboration with The National School of Theatre Arts and Drama. The two have come together for the second time within the last three years to have such a production that will benefit secondary school students preparing to write the examination.
Unfortunately, this is the last term secondary schools will be using the text. However, among the cast of over 40 actors are reigning Miss Guyana World Nurriyyih Gerrard playing “Portia” and Nirmal Narine as “Calpurnia”.
Other actors playing the lead roles are Mark Luke-Edwards, Nickose Layne, Clinton Duncan, Jamohl Alexander, Paul Budnah, Randolph Critchlow and students of the National School of Theatre Arts and Drama.
The show starts at 10:00h and will last for approximately three hours. Tickets for the show cost $500 for children and there are limited tickets for adults at a cost of $1000.
