Fire Service summoned after “burning smell” at recount venue

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) was called in to investigate after persons complained of smelling something burning at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, venue of the ongoing national elections recount of votes.

Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Elections Commission, Yolanda Ward, told the media that there was a “burning smell”, and as such the Fire Service was called in.
When contacted, the Guyana Fire Service said a fire tender was dispatched to the conference centre, but there was no fire.
