The section of the Suddie Magistrate’s Court that was damaged
Arson was attempted on the Suddie Magistrate’s Court in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) on Wednesday morning.
Reports are that the incident occurred at about 05:00h. When Guyana Times visited the scene, investigators said that they found several bottles with suspected kerosene at the scene. Investigators said swift action by Police stationed in the area contained the blaze, which was quickly extinguished. Police have also said that what appeared to be a pile of kerosene-soaked paper was found on the Magistrate’s chair.
Police, in collaboration with the Guyana Fire Service, have since launched an investigation.
