Firemen detained over missing cellphones

Four firemen are now in the hot seat following reports of two missing cellphones belonging to Traffic Chief Dion Moore.

Firefighters attached to the Mahaica Fire Station were summoned to an early morning fire at the home of thePhones Traffic Chief on the East Coast of Demerara.

It is reported that the fire was handled efficiently, but Moore realised that his mobile phones could not be found after the ruckus was over. He subsequently lodged a complaint with local authorities suspecting the firemen to have removed his iPhone and another phone.

The four men were suspected as it was alleged that they were the only ‘strange’ persons in the home.

Fire Chief Marlon Gentle said the “four firemen have been detained and are being questioned because they were in the house”.

C Division Commander Marlon Chapman confirmed that four firemen were being questioned and investigations are currently ongoing into the matter.
