This Christmas, the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation delivered 11 newborns – all of whom were greeted with hampers from First Lady Arya Ali on Friday morning.
At the Hospital’s Maternity Ward, the First Lady interacted with the new mothers and staffers who were on duty for the holiday. She was accompanied by Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony and Chief Executive Officer of GPHC, George Lewis.
On her social media page, the First Lady described the newborns as ambassadors of goodwill, and noted that all children should be encouraged to reach their full potential.
“The birth of Christ was a miracle which offered this world hope and renewed our faith in humanity. Births on this day are therefore special, as they remind us of that hope that baby Jesus offered us. As a young mother, I believe that every birth is special, but our Christmas babies are ambassadors of peace and goodwill. I believe that they will not just offer us that renewed hope, but will emerge as a generation of peacemakers who will make this world a better place,” the First Lady said.
She added, “Therefore, I could not let the opportunity pass to share this special moment with mothers of newborns at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation…It is my hope that we continue to nurture them, and every other child, in a way that helps them to unlock their fullest potential and live meaningful lives.”
