Home News First Lady’s business workshop expanded
First Lady Mrs Sanda Granger has announced that the long-anticipated Trainer of Trainers programme for her Self-Reliance and Success in Business workshop will get underway this November.
The First Lady made this announcement at the closing ceremony of the 21st such workshop, which was held in Mocha-Arcadia this week.
“We’re going to have… over 65 persons… and we will train them so that they can go back into the communities and train other women in their areas… They will come, they will spend their time together, learn, and then they will [take the programme] back to their communities,” the First Lady outlined.
She said that two sessions of the Trainer of Trainers programme will be held in Georgetown from November 6th to 17th.
Turning to the 40 women who successfully completed the Mocha-Arcadia week-long workshop, the First Lady congratulated them and encouraged them to use their talents to create a better life for themselves and their families.
“Every closing of a workshop of this nature is a moment of excitement for me, because it tells me that the women of Guyana are not standing still, and [that] they’re beginning to think outside the box. We recognise that women throughout the length and breadth of Guyana…have the talent, and they can move things forward,” she said.
The graduates, overcome with gratitude, surprised the First Lady — and Facilitator from Interweave Solutions (Guyana) Incorporated, Sanjay Pooran — by singing their version of “To Sir with Love” and Betty Wright’s “Thank You for the Many Things You’ve Done”. The First Lady and Pooran, both moved to tears, were warmly embraced by the graduates during the performance.
