Fish vendor accused of stealing woman’s wedding band during fight

A 37-year-old fish vendor, accused of stealing a woman’s wedding band while she was in a fight with another woman, was on Friday charged with the offence of larceny from the person.
Tafivan Vieira of Meadow Bank, Georgetown appeared before Senior Magistrate Dylon Bess in that Georgetown Magistrate’s court and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

It is alleged that on September 26, 2021, at Meadow Bank Wharf, Georgetown, he stole from the person of Roma Munasar a gold wedding ring valued at $152,000 and one silver ring valued at $14,500.
On the day in question, Munasar was involved in a fight with another female at the Meadow Bank Wharf. During that alteration, Vieira allegedly snatched the woman’s belongings and made good his escape.
A report was made to the Police, and following an investigation, he was arrested and charged with the present offence.
He has been placed on bail in the sum of $80,000.
Conditionalities of the bail grant are that he lodge his passport with the court and report to the Ruimveldt Police Station every week until the hearing and determination of his trial. (G1)
