Home News Fisherman attacked, chopped over old grievance
The Police are on the hunt for a man who reportedly injured 33-year-old Brian Hutchins, a fisherman of Uitvlugt Sideline Dam, West Coast Demerara, on Wednesday at about 22:00h in an
incident that reportedly took place in the vicinity of Church Street, Anna Catherina, WCD.
The Police have said that the victim and the suspect had had a misunderstanding about the mother of the suspect’s child, and on the day in question, the victim was reportedly heading home when the suspect attacked and dealt him several chops about his body with a cutlass before making good his escape on foot.
The injured man reportedly stopped a motorcar that was passing at the time, and, with the assistance of the driver, was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was treated before being referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
He has reportedly undergone emergency surgery, and his condition is considered serious.
The matter was reported, but checks for the identifiable suspect have proved futile. Investigations into the matter are, however, continuing.
