Fisherman attacked, stabbed by drinking buddy

A fisherman is now hospitalised after he was stabbed by his drinking buddy in the wee hours of Wednesday at No 64 Village, Corentyne, Berbice. The injured man is 52-year-old Petamber Hack of the said village.
Based on reports received, the victim was imbibing and left for his home at about 01:30h. However, he was reportedly followed by the suspect, who started stabbing him in his back and right hand with two knives.
After committing the act, the suspect ran away. However, the injured man went to the Skeldon Hospital to seek medical attention. The Police were summoned and the incident was reported.
The victim reportedly sustained five stab wounds to his right hand and back. His condition is regarded as stable. Meanwhile, the suspect was later arrested and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
He remains in custody as investigations continue.
