Fisherman fires shots at cousin in money row

A Courbane Park, Annandale, East Coast Demerara (ECD) man is now counting his lucky stars after he was saved by the bell when his cousin allegedly discharged several rounds in his direction on Tuesday, but all missed him. The two had had a row over monies owed.
The suspect, Police say, has been identified as a 39-year-old fisherman of La Bonne Intention (LBI), ECD. According to Police, the incident occurred about 12:28h at Annandale West, ECD.
Reports are that the 28-year-old man and the suspect had an argument over the telephone about monies owed by the suspect, who had refused to pay. During the argument, the 39-year-old reportedly threatened to kill his cousin.
Police said that while the man did not take the threat seriously, he was confronted by the fisherman while seated in his motor vehicle at a bar in Annandale West on Tuesday. He told Police that the suspect armed himself with a hand gun and approached him, pointing the weapon in his direction.
Police said the suspect then began discharging several rounds in the cousin’s direction. The suspect then made good his escape in a white motor car west along the Annandale Public Road, ECD.
Following the incident, the Police were summoned, and upon their arrival, the scene was processed. Two 9mm spent shells were recovered, but the suspect was not located.
An investigation has been launched. (G9)
