Home News Fisherman jailed for possession of cocaine smoking utensil
Thirty-year-old fisherman Ashrad Ally of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara was on Friday arraigned before Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly, before whom he admitted to having in his possession a utensil used for smoking cocaine.
He admitted that on May 24, 2018, at the Ruimveldt Police Station, he had in his possession the improvised pipe used for smoking cocaine.
The Court heard that Ally was arrested for questioning in relation to a simple larceny matter that was being investigated when he was searched and the said pipe was found in his pants pocket. As such, he was charged for the offence.
He has been sentenced to one year’s imprisonment for the offence.
