Home News Fisherman jailed for wounding wife
A fisherman who hit his wife with a plate to the head will spend the next 12 months in prison thinking about his behaviour.
Vicky Bacchus, of Lot 7 River View, Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was jailed by Magistrate Leron Daly on Friday when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts and admitted to wounding his wife.
Bacchus admitted that he wounded Michelle Russell, who has been his common-law wife for over 10 years.
The prosecution contended that on September 19 at River View, Ruimveldt about 15:00h, Bacchus went home under the influence of alcohol and started to verbally abuse the Virtual Complainant. As a result, a heated argument ensued, and Bacchus struck the VC in the head with the plate by throwing the same at her, causing her to sustain a laceration to the head.
The VC was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was examined and received seven stitches to her head. Bacchus was later arrested, and charged for the offence.
