In anticipation of its first meet, Fitness Express has signed on as one of the sponsors of the Arrowhead League, which will commence on April 30th at the National Track and Field Centre at Leonora, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
At a simple presentation ceremony on Wednesday afternoon, proprietor of the fitness store, Jamie McDonald, disclosed the reason for his support when he highlighted the developmental aspect of the league.
“This league, in the next few years, will help to develop athletics, and when I saw it in the papers, I thought this would be good to be a part of, this is what the athletes need,” McDonald shared.
Organiser of the event, Treiston Joseph, expressed his elation at Fitness Express’s backing. “With companies like Fitness Express on board, the overarching goal of moving the sport forward is easier to achieve,” Joseph stated, while thanking Fitness Express.
Meanwhile, President of the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG), Aubrey Hutson, was also on hand to thank Fitness Express for its support in boosting the local athletics calendar.
Hutson remarked, “This league will help to give the athletes consistent competition, and that is important.”
The first meet of the Arrowhead league will take place this Saturday, April 30, from 17:00hrs. The League was launched earlier in April with the intention of providing a more competitive Grand Prix in the sport, while working on developmental aspects.
