Fitness Express joins to sponsor youth cricket programme
Fitness Express has joined in supporting the youth cricket mentorship programme along with the initial sponsors GTT, Body Maxx Gym, Attorney-at-Law Sanjeev Datadin and Attorney-at Law and Member of Parliament Charles Ramson which was launched some eight (8) months ago.
The three players who were awarded the contract were wicketkeeper / batsman Ronaldo Renee, all-rounder Malcolm Hubbard of Everest Cricket Club and all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford of Demerara Cricket Club.
Rutherford was subsequently awarded a contract from the GCB so could no longer benefit from the programme. However, the programme was progressing successfully with Renee and Hubbard having very successful seasons, being selected for the Demerara U-19 team and are now being considered for selection in the Guyana U-19 team.
The contracts and a mentorship programme for a duration of one year is valued at over 0,000 each inclusive of a ,000 monthly
stipend, gym membership from Bodymaxx Gym, a new smartphone, cricket gears, clothing and now nutritional supplements from Fitness Express.
The contracts were awarded on a competitive basis after a trial, gruelling fitness test and interview held at the Everest Cricket Club in November, 2015.
The programme is the brain child of prominent attorney Charles Ramson who explained that “the success of the programme so far shows that it works and businesses and companies need to see that and appreciate that they also have a big role to play in harnessing talent in the country they do business in by providing the opportunity through sponsorship”.
Ramson added “Everyone wants to know that they are making a difference so I have no doubt that the sponsors GTT, Body Maxx Gym, Sanjeev Datadin and Fitness Express which took the jump and the risk by joining this pilot programme will be pleased with its progress so far”.
