FITUG endorses President Ali for 2nd term in office
The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Guyana (FITUG), in a Sunday press release, announced its endorsement of President Dr Irfaan Ali for a second term in office. According to FITUG, the endorsement is rooted in President Ali’s proven commitment to the upliftment of the working class, his people-centred leadership, and his steadfast focus on building a stronger, fairer and more resilient Guyana for all.

FITUG noted that under his leadership, the Government has rolled out several pro-worker and pro-people initiatives that have tangibly improved the lives of workers and their families across the country. From steady wage increases, to the reversal of burdensome taxes on essential goods, targeted investments in job creation, education, housing and healthcare. The working class has seen a revival of hope and dignity under his administration. Moreover, the Government’s support for the revitalisation of the sugar industry and the consistent engagement with trade unions reflect a genuine regard for the role of workers in nation-building. President Ali has also prioritised inclusive growth and unity, embracing all Guyanese regardless of background or region in the ongoing transformation of our beloved nation, it added.
FITUG expressed its confidence in the future for its members under his continued presidency.
“His visionary leadership, tenacity in the face of challenges and tireless efforts to promote national unity and social cohesion exemplify the values we hold dear. President Ali is not only a leader of policies but a leader of the people—accessible, responsive and deeply committed to realising the dreams and aspirations of all Guyanese. As Guyana continues on its path of progress and prosperity, FITUG believes that the country’s future is secure and assured with Dr Irfaan Ali at the helm.” it stated.
The union called on Guyanese to support his re-election and stand together for a Guyana where development is inclusive, opportunities are abundant, and no one is left behind.
