“Fix it” goes on trial for attempted murder

…allegedly wounded man who refused to give him money

Quincy Henry, also known as “Fix It”, on Wednesday denied that he wounded Troy Bacchus, called “Fletcher”, with the intent of murdering him on September 20, 2015, at Bourda, Georgetown. Henry also denied the alternative count, which stated that he tried to cause grievous bodily harm or to main, disfigure, disable or disarm Bacchus. The defendant entered pleas of not guilty on both counts at his first appearance at the High Court before Justice Brassington Reynolds. A 12-member mixed jury was empanelled to hear the case.
Prosecutors Tiffani Lyken, Seeta Bishundial and Narissa Lander are appearing for

the State. Meanwhile, the accused was not represented by legal counsel. Justice Reynolds however gave him until today to retain the services of an attorney ahead of the start of the trial.
Based on reports surrounding the case, Henry who works as a handyman, had a habit of asking individuals for money. On the day in question, Bacchus refused to give the accused any money which reportedly led to an altercation between the two.
During Wednesday’s court appearance, Henry seemed to have difficulty hearing as the Judge and the Court’s Registrar repeated statements several times while communicating with him. The accused was out on $50,000 bail prior to the empanelment, but he was remanded to prison for the duration of the case.
