Floodlight cricket returns to DCC tonight

The momentum is picking up in the Back to Eden, Permaul’s Trading, Khans’s Trading and Trophy Stall sponsored softball tournament with four matches over the weekend beginning tonight at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground in Queenstown, Georgetown.

Ramesh Narine is expected to feature for Floodlights tonight at DCC

It will mark a return for Floodlights Masters who will take on Parika Defenders from 19:00h. Floodlights were out of the spotlight over the recent weeks but will suit up for this crucial match tonight against the visitors who is heading into the game with some form and momentum.
The Defenders defended their home ground wonderfully last Sunday when they put a sound trashing on Success Masters by 71 runs at the Saleem Community Centre ground. The hosts batted first and scored a commanding 168/7 from 20 overs. Muneshwar Balgobin and Davanan Kanna made 27 runs apiece while Raymond “Orange Juice” Karim took 2/19 for the visitors.
In reply, Success were knocked over for 97 in the 16th over with only Mark Fung showing some fight with 35 runs. Kannan returned to pick up 3/12 while Kabesh Persaud was equally destructive with 3/16 for the home team.
The second match of the day between Parika Defenders and Narine Masters was washed out without a ball being bowled after heavy and persistent rain made the outfield unplayable.
After tonight’s encounter, the tournament will continue on Sunday at the Malteenoes Sports Club ground, Thomas lands Georgetown with three matches. In the over-45 category, Narine Masters battle Regal Masters at 10:00h then Tropical Springs Masters take on Wellman from 14:00h.
At 13:00h there will be a lone female fixture with 4-R Lioness taking on Trophy Stall Angels.
