Forde backs Jaguars ahead of Curaçao clash tomorrow

President of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), Wayne Forde says he is optimistic that Guyana’s National Football team; The Golden Jaguars will have a successful campaign in the second-round of matches in the Scotiabank Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Men’s Caribbean Cup.
Guyana will open the second round against Curaçao at the Ergilio Hato Stadium tomorrow June 1 before battling the US Virgin Islands (USVI) on June 4.
In Round One of the tournament, Guyana had topped Group Five after defeating Anguilla 7-0 in Guyana and Puerto Rico 1-0 in Puerto

Forde said he has full confidence in the Guyanese side despite the recent 5-1 defeat in the International Friendly against Canada’s Olympic Team on May 15 at Providence. Forde is urging fans to show their support for the team since they are undefeated in the CFU tournament so far and are yet to concede a goal.
“I know that the result of the International Friendly against Canada is the one that is stuck in everyone’s mind, but I must remind the fans that we went through round one of the tournament without conceding a goal and finishing as the best team within our group. I think the Guyana Golden Jaguars are doing well, I want to appeal to the Guyanese fans to support this engagement in the CFU, I am very optimistic at our chances of going far in the tournament and even coming away with the championship but we need the support to make this happen” he further stated.
