Forever part of the Police family – Top Cop tells children of cops killed in the line of duty

…as Police Fallen Heroes Foundation gives financial support

The Guyana Police Force (GPF), through its Fallen Heroes Foundation, on Monday hosted a donation ceremony to provide financial assistance to the children of police officers who died in the line of duty. The ceremony was held at the Police Officers’ Mess, where cheques were presented to beneficiaries as part of the Foundation’s ongoing support programme. The event brought together members of the Police Force, clergy, foundation officials and families of the fallen officers. In his opening remarks, President of the Fallen Heroes Foundation, Reverend Dr Murtland Raphael Massiah, CCH, assured the families that the GPF and the Foundation remain committed to remembering the sacrifice of the fallen officers and supporting their loved ones. He also encouraged the children to remain focused on their education and future goals. Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken, addressing the gathering, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to the academic development and overall well-being of the beneficiaries. He noted that the children of fallen officers continue to be regarded as part of the wider GPF family and said the organisation would maintain its support for them. The Commissioner also extended Christmas greetings and best wishes for the New Year to the families on behalf of the Executive Leadership Team and the entire GPF. The recipients of the donations were identified as Tattianna LaRose, 16; Teon LaRose, 17; Teonard LaRose, 14; Isaiah LaRose, 18; Zimri LaRose, 17; Zackarious McPherson, 7; Xavier McPherson, 2; Nivia Cleto, 13; Crystal Cosbert, 16; Nickel Dawson, 12; Teneshia Elias, 21; and Keon LaRose, 21.

Also present at the ceremony were Chairman of the Fallen Heroes Foundation, Bishop Raphael Massiah; Force Chaplain, Reverend Patrick Doolichand; Secretary of the Foundation, Reverend Winston Assanah; Treasurer, Mohamed Qualandar; along with relatives of the fallen officers. The Fallen Heroes Foundation was established in November 2015 through a partnership between the Cops and Faith Community Network and the GPF. The Foundation focuses on providing financial and other forms of assistance to the families of police officers who lost their lives while performing their duties in service to the country. Since its establishment, the Foundation has continued to implement initiatives aimed at ensuring that the children and families of fallen officers receive sustained support, particularly in the areas of education and welfare.
