Former ECC member Pooran Singh makes timely donation to club

Pooran Singh, former National Under-19 player, member of the Everest Cricket Club and Member of the Georgetown Cricket Club, has made a timely donation to the Everest Cricket Club as it ventures to rehabilitate its facilities.

Singh previously represented both the ECC and GCC, and is currently Chief Accountant at the Savannah Charitable Trust Limited located in England. This Trust is governed by former England Test cricketer Phil Edmonds.
As his rationale for making this contribution, Singh said, “As you know, I played for GCC, Everest, Guyana U19, and then migrated to England. I am aware that the club is in need of donations as they are currently in their rehabilitation phase. I was privileged enough to receive a donation from my company in England. Two years ago, in 2017, I helped GCC, and I decided that this year I should help the club that I first started out my cricketing at. The financial donation, when given to the club, is not for any specific use, but to cater to the general needs of the club, whether it be to better the field, reconstruct the pavilion, or even fix up the dressing rooms or even the club house. It is there for them to use.”
Singh also indicated that, as a former cricketer, giving back is something that he has always wanted to do. He also said he is extremely proud of the bold steps that the club is making, as he referenced the fact that, over the weekend, the club posted a mammoth total of 434 runs made in 40 overs.
He noted that he is extremely proud of the journey the club has taken since it emerged first runner-up in the 2018 edition of the 2nd Division NBS Cricket Competition, and he said he is optimistic about the club’s performance in the 2019 edition.
Singh had this to say: “To all the younger players out there, I urge you to try to improve; take the game very seriously, forget about parties and alcohol, train hard and motivate yourself, and you will definitely make it to the top.”
