Former CEO of GPHC, Michael Khan, has died

Khan’s tenure as CEO of the GPHC came to an end August 2017 after his contract was not renewed under the then A Partnership for National Unity+Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) Government. Back in September 2025, he was sent on administrative leave to allow for investigations into the operations of the hospital.
He was subsequently reinstated in August 2016 by the GPHC Board but was told to remain off the job by then Public Health Minister George Norton to facilitate the review of the forensic audit that was conducted. Then Chairman of the GPHC Board, Max Hanoman had confirmed that the audit found no criminal or fraudulent actions against Khan and noted that there was nothing barring him from resuming duties as CEO of the institution. Khan was eventually allowed to return to work but only to serve out the reminder of his contract which expired in August 2017.
