Former Health Minister to head GPHC board

Former Health Minister Dr Leslie Ramsammy is the new Chairman of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). On Thursday, the Health Ministry announced that a new Board of Directors has been appointed for that health institution with effect from January 1 to December 31, 2022.

Ramsammy, who now chairs the board, is the current Adviser to the Health Minister. The Board held its first meeting on Wednesday. The other members of the Board are: Chartered Accountant Harryram Parmessar; Permanent Secretary of the Health Ministry, Malcolm Watkins; Head of Neurosurgery at GPHC, who is representing the Guyana Medical Association, Dr Amarnauth Dukhi; Director of Medical and Professional Services, GPHC (ex-officio member), Dr Fawcett Jeffrey; Chief Executive Officer, GPHC (ex-officio member), Robbie Rambarran; Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic Engagement, representing UG, Dr Emanuel Cummings; representative of the Guyana Nurses Association, Cleopatra Barkoye; representative of Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU), Dawn Gardener, and representative of the Finance Ministry, Verna Adrian.
