Frankies crowned Turbo Power Plus national champions

Frankies domino team of West bank of Demerara received their spoils for winning the Turbo Power Plus Nationwide Domino Tournament at the awards ceremony at the Georgetown Dominoes Association (GDA) Headquarters in South Ruimveldt Park on Wednesday evening.

The winning team stood at the summit at the end of the 39 team tournament which lasted three days from August 26-28. For finishing in the top position Frankies received a whopping five hundred thousand dollars $500,000.00 as well as a trophy and an extra pack of dominoes.

The Tournament began with thirty nine (39) teams and started later than the expected 17:30H mark due to the late arrival of out of town teams some of which came from as far as the Corentyne Coast, Berbice.

Finishing in a close second position were F&H Supremes with 71 games followed by Providence with 63 Games. For placing second, F&H Supremes pocketed $200,000 while Providence walked away with $100,000.

The following is the full list of winners; 1st place – Frankies of West Bank Demerara, 2nd place – 71 Games – F&H Supremes of Georgetown, 3rd Place – 63 Games Providence also of Georgetown, 4th place – Rugged of Georgetown, 5th place – Determine of the West Bank of Demerara and 6th place – Masters of Georgetown

Accolades also went to the following for their achievements; MVP of the Finals – Terry Boyce (Frankies), First Double Love of Playoffs – Worrel Thornhill (Ruff Riders), First Love of Finals – Terry Boyce (Frankies), Best Female of Playoffs – Candace Anderson and Best Uniformed Team – Thunder.

To show her appreciation and good gesture, the President of the Georgetown Domino Association Faye Joseph presented A Trophy and $50,000 to Royals, a domino team that came all the way from the Corentyne Coast to take part in this Nationwide Domino Tournament.

PRIZE GIVING AND AWARD CEREMONY

The presentation ceremony was graced by the presence of representatives of the sponsors the Guyana Beverages Inc. including General Manager Mark Telting and Andre Noel the Turbo Brand Manager (Trinidad Based) as well as representatives of the local domino body.

Speaking at the presentation President of the Guyana Domino Association (GDA) Faye Joseph thanked the players for the level of competition over the three days as well as the discipline which was shown throughout the tournament.

While Noel encouraged the GDA to continue along the path of hosting a successful tournament to the magnitude of the Turbo Plus.
